Gordon College Men's Tennis hosted Wentworth Institute of Technology (WIT) in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) match this afternoon at the Brigham Athletic Complex where the Fighting Scots saw the winning side of the match, shutting out the Leopards by a score of 9-0.
The Scots' No. 3 doubles pair of
Will Jeffreys and
Richard Ryzi recorded the first point of the afternoon besting their opponents 8-1. They were followed by Nate Lookwhy and
Jonathan Frink who took down the the Leopards' top duo by the same 8-1 tally. Rounding out the wins in doubles was Kris Marineau and
Patrick Monahan who took the 8-3 win, giving the Scots the 3-0 sweep going into singles.
After a Jeffreys' win, Marineau beat out his counterpart Tristen Maus (So./Mansfield, Mass.) 6-2, 6-0, solidifying the Gordon victory. Lookwhy and Frink then recorded identical decisions of 6-1, 6-0 against their foes to add onto the Scots' stellar afternoon. Ryzi edged out Sam Ferro (Fr./Whitman, Mass.) in the No. 6 spot to give the Scots the 9-0 shut out victory.
The Fighting Scots are back on the court this Saturday, April 13 at Nichols College in Dudley, Massachusetts to take on the Bison in a CCC matchup with a 12 p.m. start.
