Scots Falter In CCC Matchup With Roger Williams

Box Score Traveling to Rhode Island for the second time in four days, Gordon College Men's Tennis squared off against the Hawks of Roger Williams University this afternoon and despite nearly picking up a win in No. 1 doubles, the Fighting Scots dropped a 2-7 decision to the Hawks. Both the Scots and Hawks even up their conference record at 1-1 after today's contest.

Roger Williams scooted ahead early, earning initial victories in second and third doubles before taking the eventual sweep in doubles after No. 1's Brendan White (Jr./Old Lyme, Conn.) and Jared Deibe (So./Oakland, N.J) defeated Gordon's Nathan Lookwhy and Jonathan Frink in a close tiebreaker, 7-8 (6-8).

In singles, RWU kicked off singles with a win from Matty Feldman (Jr./Duxbury, Mass.) in the No. 5 spot. Frink kept the Scots' hopes alive as the junior topped his No. 2 counterpart, 6-2, 6-3 to put the Scots on the board. However, Deibe sealed the victory for the Hawks with a win in No. 3 singles to clinch the match and eventual 7-2 win over Gordon.

The Scots take a break from conference action but cap off their third straight road contest with a non-league matchup against Colby-Sawyer, Thursday, April 4 at 3:30 p.m. in New London, New Hampshire.
