Gordon College Baseball hosted cross-town and Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) rival Endicott College at J Tec. White Field this afternoon, and despite a four-run seventh inning, the Gulls clipped the Scots by a final score of 7-6.
The Fighting Scots continue CCC play on Saturday, April 27 as the Scots hit the road to take on Nichols College in Dudley, Massachusetts with a first pitch set for noon.
How It Happened
- Endicott struck first in the top of the first, scoring a pair of runs to take a 2-0 lead.
- In the home half of the second, rookie Patrick Tevenan laced a single through the right side to score Sam Schetelic and Christian Hodge to make it even at 2-2. However, the tie was short lived as Nick Perkins (So.Nashua, N.H) hit a solo shot in the third to reclaim the lead for Endicott.Â
- The Gulls stretched the lead to five runs, holding a 7-2 lead until Gordon used three hits to plate four runs in the seventh, making it a one-run ball game at 7-6 in favor of the Gulls.
- The Scots were not able to string anymore offense together in their remaining two at bats as Endicott's lefty hurler, Liam Burke (Sr./Westwood, Mass.) didn't allow a single hit in the final two frames to secure the 7-6 win for the visitors.Â
Beyond The Box Score
- Patrick Tevenan threw out three Endicott baserunners from behind the plate. Â
- Rookies, Sam Schetelic and Patrick Tevenan had a team-high two RBI's each.
- Senior, Connor Rogotzke didn't allow a run to cross the plate in 3.0 innings of work and only surrendered two hits.
