Box Score Gordon College Men's Tennis hosted crosstown foe, Endicott College, in the Quarterfinals of the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Tournament. After losing to the Gulls the past to years in the quarterfinals, the Fighting Scots sought revenge and took the 5-3 victory over the Gulls to advance to the CCC Semifinals.
After loses in the No. 2 and No. 3 spots for Gordon's doubles,
Nathan Lookwhy and
Jonathan Frink landed the Scots their first points of the game after beating out the Gulls No. 1 duo by a tally of 8-7 (7-3). Going into singles play, Endicott had the slight 2-1 advantage.Â
Frink and Lookwhy continued their winning ways as they took down their No. 2 and No. 1 counterparts, respectively, to give the Scots a 3-2 edge over the Gulls. Endicott's Justin Toler (Jr./Concord, N.H.) tied the match at 3-all when he beat out Gordon's
Richard Ryzi in the sixth spot. A win by
Kristopher Marineau in the No. 3 spot put the Scots back on top. Soon after,
Patrick Monahan scored the deciding match point for the Scots by beating out Christos Papadopoulos (Sr./Weymouth, Mass.) in the fifth spot with scores of 2-6, 7-5, 6-4, giving the Scots the 5-3 victory.
The Fighting Scots travel to Dudley, Massachusetts on Wednesday, May 1 to take on No. 1 seeded Nichols College in the CCC Men's Tennis Semifinals.Â
