Golden Bears Squeak Past Scots On Senior Day

Box Score Gordon College Men's Tennis honored seniors Nathan Lookwhy and Kristopher Marineau prior to welcoming Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) foe, Western New England (WNE) this afternoon where the Golden Bears edged the Fighting Scots by a score of 5-4. 

The top duo of Lookwhy and Jonathon Frink earned the first point of the match for the Fighting Scots as they claimed the evident 8-1 victory over the Golden Bears'  David Kalmer (Jr./ Slingerlands, N.Y.) and Justin Kohut (Sr./ South Windsor, Conn.). The Golden Bears No. 2 pair would settle the match score at one a piece before the No. 3 duo of Will Jefferys and Richard Ryzi took the thrilling 8-6 victory, giving the Scots a 2-1 advantage going into singles. 

WNE took the first four victories in singles competition with the fourth one solidifying the Golden Bear victory after Kohut beat out Marineau in the No. 3 spot. Frink and Jeffreys would go onto beat their counterparts in their No. 2 and No. 4 spots, respectively. With the singles victories, the Golden Bears ended up on the winning side of the 5-4 decision. 

The Scots continue CCC action as they welcome Wentworth on Wednesday, April 10 for a 4 p.m. start.
