Gordon College Women's Tennis welcomed the Eastern Nazarene College (ENC) Lions this afternoon at the Brigham Athletic Complex where the visiting Lions took a 6-3 victory over the Fighting Scots to improve to 2-0 on the season while the Scots evened out at 2-2 on the year.

Meli Markarian picked up a decisive 8-1 victory in No. 3 doubles.
Heading into singles, Gordon tied their counterparts quickly after No. 4 Mullane defeated Maria Busila (Fr./Malaga, Spain) in straight sets to make it 2-2. ENC's top two players earned back-to-back victories to regain the lead. Gordon's Markarian remained undefeated on the afternoon by taking a 6-0, 6-1 win over No. 6 Makayla Grantham (Jr./ Appalachian, N.Y.) to add another point to the board for the Scots. However, ENC's Veronica Jimenez (Sr./Lynn, Mass.) sealed the deal for the Lions with a 6-0, 6-1 victory in No. 5 position.Â
The Scots open Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play on Saturday, September 14 as they travel to Roger Williams for a noon start.
