On the road for the first time in the 2019 season, Gordon College Women's Soccer traveled to New England College for a non-conference matchup against the Pilgrims this afternoon. The Fighting Scots blanked their hosts 3-0 to improve to 3-1-1 on the season.
How It Happened
- The Scots took control of the game early pressuring the Pilgrims' defense as the Scots were on an offensive surge to open up the game. Emily Rodriguez found the back of the net in the 25th minute to take the one goal lead.
- Looking to tie it up, NEC tested Scots' keeper Kali Denty by firing off four shots but Denty saved each one of them to maintain the 1-0 lead.Â
- The Scots added to their lead in the 44th minute when rookie Calla Ashley sent one past the Pilgrims' last line of defense giving the Scots a two-score lead heading into halftime.
- Not satisfied with the 2-0 lead, Gordon's Devin Lacroix tacked on another in the 50th minute to stretch the lead to three and secure the eventual shutout victory.
The Fighting Scots hit the road again on Saturday, September 14 as they travel to Fitchburg State for a 10 a.m. kick-off.
