Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Scots Net Four Over ENC For Fifth Straight Win

Taking a break from Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action tonight, Gordon College Women's Soccer traveled to Quincy, Massachusetts to square off against the Eastern Nazarene Lions where the Fighting Scots' offense caught firing blanking the Lions by a tally of 4-0 to improve to 7-1-1 on the season.

For the Scots, Jenny Deckert and Giselle Maso split time in net recording two and four saves, respectively, to preserve the shutout. Sophia Mammana and Kyra Skurcenski each booked a goal on the night, Lexi Potter and Calla Ashley each registered an assist, while Emily Rodriguez scored two goals.

How It Happened
  • With the offense clicking early, Gordon's Mammana knocked in a feed from Potter in the 17th minute to put the Scots on the board, 1-0. Potter nearly made it a quick two-goal lead 40 ticks later but ENC got some help from the goal post to keep it a one goal game.
  • In the 41st minute, Ashley sent in a corner kick, finding the head of Skurcenski who buried the ball in the corner to stretch the lead to 2-0.
  • Not satisfied with their lead, Gordon's Rodriguez ripped a shot past ENC's keeper, Griselda Minchaca (Sr./Whittier, Calif.) to widen the gap to three goals heading into halftime.
  • The Scots eventually made it a 4-0 game after Rodriguez found the back of the net in the 81st minute to secure the victory for the blue and white.
The Scots are back in action on Saturday, September 28 as they travel down the road to CCC foe Endicott College for a 5 p.m. kick-off.

Beyond The Box Score
  • Sophia Mammana booked her first collegiate career goal tonight.
  • Calla Ashley has dished out an assist in back-to-back games.
  • Since 2016 the Scots have outscored ENC 16-0 in their four wins against the Lions.
