Hall Shines At ITAs

Gordon College Men's Tennis sent two players to compete in the annual 2019 ITA Division III New England Regional Tennis Championship hosted by  Colby College in Waterville, Maine. This year's competition featured players from twenty different schools across the region with the tournament beginning on Friday, September 27 and concluding Sunday, September 29.

In a tough first round matchup, Jonathan Frink was bested by seeded-freshman Rishahb Sharda (Fr./Chandigarh, India) from Tufts, 6-0, 6-1 on Friday. On the same day, Ezekiel Hall dueled with Springfield's Fabian Jensen (So./Stavanger, Norway)- who he and Frink defeated in a doubles match earlier in the week- with Hall coming out on top with a 6-0, 6-1 victory to advance to the next round.

Hall then took on Justin Wang (Jr./Short Hills, N.J.) of Bowdoin and gritted out a hard fought 7-5, 7-5 win over the junior sending the rookie to the Round of 16 where he faced a seeded Robby Ward (Fr./Wilmington, Del.) from Middlebury. In the 12 p.m. Saturday matchup at the Alfond-Wales Courts, Ward sent Hall home after a 6-0, 6-1 win.

Hall's Round of 16 appearance in the farthest a Gordon player has gone since his brother, Zach Hall, accomplished the same feat in 2014 as a junior.
