Scots Take Fight Out Of Bulldogs With 6-0 Win

This afternoon, Gordon College Women's Soccer hosted the Bulldogs of Dean College. The Fighting Scots' offense came out of the gates firing in the first half netting five goals in the first half alone and would later tally another goal in the second half to secure the commanding 6-0 victory.

The Scots saw even scoring as six different players found the back of the net in today's contest.

The Scots are back in action on Friday, September 6, as they host Wheaton College for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

How It Happened:
  • The Scots' offense came out hot as they ripped seven shots on the Bulldogs before freshman, McKenna Feller, placed a penalty kick past Bulldog keeper, Jennifer Jacovino (So./ Monroe, Conn.), to give the Scots their first point of the game in the fourteenth minute of play.
  • Seven minutes later, senior Devin Lacroix converted on a cross from teammate Erika Hall to extend the lead to two. Another seven minutes later, Calla Ashley got in on the action after netting a deep shot past a diving Jacovino.
  • The Scots finished the half just as strong as they started it when Christin Redding found the back of the net off a pass from Christa Vordenberg to further extend the lead. Shortly after, Sarah Sierzenga got her first goal of the season to give the Scots the 5-0 advantage going into halftime.
  • The Scots' got off seven shots to start the half before an own goal on the Bulldogs' behalf gave the scots the six goal lead which would carry them to the eventual 6-0 victory.
Beyond The Box:
  • McKenna FellerChristin Redding, and Sarah Sierzengaeach scored their first goal of the 2019 season. Also proving to be Feller's and Sierzenga's first career goals as Fighting Scots.
  • The Scots offense fired off an impressive 43 shots as the defense held the Bulldogs to zero shots throughout the match.
