Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Scots, Lyons Battle To 3-3 Draw

Hosting Wheaton College tonight at the Brigham Athletic Complex, Gordon College Women's Soccer battled the Lyons through 110 minutes for a 3-3 draw.

For the Fighting Scots, Kali Denty made 12 saves, Emily Rodriguez knocked in a pair of goals, Calla Ashley netted one goal, and Devin Lacroix and Kyra Skurcenski each added an assist.

The Lyons' Chloe Troy (So./Wethersfield, Conn.) scored twice as well as dishing out an assist, Jaime Rattenni (So.West Greenwich, R.I.) tallied a goal while Aymara O'Brien-Pappalardo (Sr./Easton, Conn.) tacked on a helper on the night.

How It Happened
  • After an early red card that was issued against the Scots in the ninth minute of action (resulting in playing a man down for the duration of the contest), the Lyons took advantage and knocked in an early goal to take a 1-0 lead.
  • The lead was short lived as just over two minutes later, Lacroix found Rodriguez to knot it up at 1-1.
  • Less than 45 seconds after the Scots tied it up, Wheaton's Troy slid in a shot past Denty to regain the lead.
  • In the 24th minute, Ashley connected on a pass from Skurcenski to again tie the game and keep the 2-2 gridlock heading into the half.
  • The Lyons capitalized off of a corner kick in the 68th minute as Troy headed a perfectly placed ball from O'Brien-Pappalardo to go back on top, 3-2.
  • Wheaton nearly extended their lead in the 76th minute but Denty was a brick wall and kept the Scots within a goal. After racing down the field, Potter ripped a cross from the right side to teammate Rodriguez who timed it perfectly and headed the ball home to tie the game at three-all.
  • Denty fended away five shots in the final 10 minutes sending the game into overtime.
  • Neither team was able to find the back of the net in overtime as the game resulted in a 3-3 tie.
