Demers Continues To Lead Nation In PPG

Gordon College Men's Basketball's senior sharp-shooter, Eric Demers has made quite a name for himself this season. Currently, Demers leads the nation (NCAA DI, DII, and DIII) in points per game with 33.9 ppg. The leading scorer in DII is Jordan Floyd (Sr./Stone Mountain, Ga.) from King University (Tenn.) with 30.7 ppg while the top scorer in DI is Markus Howard (Sr./Chandler, Ariz.) from Marquette who is currently sporting a 27.9 ppg average. Demers offensive output shot the star into the national spotlight early in December when he scored a whopping 49 points in a 76-73 overtime loss to then-No.17 Nichols College on December 10. His 49 points was the third highest in NCAA DIII this season. In that same week, Demers put up 42 points in a 99-90 loss to Plymouth State on December 14. He averaged 45.5 ppg, 7.5 rpg while shooting 53.3 percent from the field and 50 percent from behind the arc on the week. He was recognized by the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) by being named the (USBWA) NCAA DIII Player of the Week as well as being named to the D3hoops.com (one of five players recognized nationally by position) Team that same week.

This week Demers has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) for the fourth time this season after averaging 33.0 ppg and shooting 48.5 percentage from three-point range. Demers became Gordon College Men's Basketball's All-Time Leading Scorer in December and currently has 2355 points and counting.
