Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Colonels Battle Their Way To 7-5 Victory Over Scots

Gordon College Men's Lacrosse capped off their trip in Pennsylvania with a game against Wilkes University. The Colonels rallied back in the final quarter to steal the 7-5 win from the Scots.

Jacob Hryzan paced the Scots with three goals while Jason Dantona and Nate Distasio each scored one a piece. Billy Biegun scooped up eight ground balls and won 12 out of 15 face-offs in the loss.

The Colonels tallied seven goals from seven different players with Eric Ormsbry (So./Warwick, N.Y.) finding his teammates on two of those goals.

How It Happened
  • Two minutes into the game, the Scots struck first blood when Distasio found the back of the net to give his team the early 1-0 lead. The Colonels evened things out and went on top six minutes later when Jacob Kudysch (Fr./Stratford, Conn.) scored the first goal for his squad and Alex Meyers (So./Cortland, N.Y.) scored the second to put his team up one.
  • In the second quarter the Colonels added two more goals looking to go into halftime with the three goal lead, but with 16 ticks left on the clock, Hryzan spoiled those plans by sending one past the goalie to cut the Colonels' lead in half going into halftime with a score of 4-2.
  • The Scots evened the table in the third quarter when Hryzan added his second on the day four minutes into the half to bring the Scots within striking distance. Then, with under three minutes remaining, Dantona added a goal of his own to tie the game at four going into the final quarter of play.
  • The Colonels regained the lead two minutes into the fourth and gave themselves a three goal cushion after three unanswered goals. With just under four minutes to play, Hryzan tried to give his squad some life by cutting the lead to two after connecting off a Dantona pass, but it would not be enough as the Colonels went on to take the 7-5 victory.
