Scots Breeze Past Panthers, 8-1

Box Score On the second day of Gordon College Men's Tennis' Spring Break Trip in Hilton Head, the Fighting Scots bested the Greenville University Panthers by a score of 8-1 to improve to 2-0 on their spring season.

Kicking it off for Gordon in No. 1 doubles was the dynamic duo of Jonathan Frink and Ezekiel Hall who made quick work of their counterparts by a score of 8-1 to give the Scots their first tally of the match. Will Jeffreys and RIchard Ryzi followed suit with an 8-5 W of their own in the No. 3 spot. In a tight one in the No. 2 doubles court, the Panthers grabbed their only point in an 8-6 victory.

Jeffreys was the first to finish for the blue and white in singles as the junior blanked his opponent, 6-0, 6-0 to make it 3-1 in Gordon's favor.  The Scots then got a W from Frink who earned the 6-4, 6-2 win against Tyler Blume (So./Spring Arbor, Mich.), coming just one point away from sealing the deal. The clincher came from the strings of Hall in who bested his opponent, 6-2, 6-4 in the No. 1 singles slot. Also receiving wins for the Scots were John Marineau (6-2, 1-6, 10-8), Patrick Monahan (7-5, 6-4), and Ryzi (7-5, 6-1).

Gordon is back on the court bright an early tomorrow as they square off against Mount Union at 8:30 a.m.
