Returning to Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action this afternoon, Gordon College Women's Tennis hit the road to square off against the Colonels of Curry College. The Fighting Scots came away victorious with an 8-1 win to improve to 4-1 on the season and 3-1 in CCC play.
Stephanie Trolice and
Allyson Fournier kicked things off for the Scots as the No. 3 doubles duo cruised to an 8-1 win to give the Scots the first advantage of the afternoon. Meanwhile, Kristen Kendall and
Abbigail Fournier took down their No. 2 counterparts, 8-2. Rounding off the wins in doubles competitions were Gordon's No. 1 partners,
Madison West and
Annette Kim who got the better of Curry's top competitors, 8-5 to give Gordon a comfortable 3-0 advantage heading into singles.
In singles, Kendall blew past her opponent in the No. 3 position, 6-0, 6-0 to put Gordon in prime position to clinch the victory with the next point. West understood what was in reach as the senior bested Curry's No. 2 by a score of 6-3, 6-0 to secure the victory for the Scots. With the match already in hand, Gordon continued to fight, picking up wins from Abb. Fournier, All. Fournier, and Trolice for the 8-1 team win.
The Scots return to action tomorrow, October 7 at the Brigham Athletic Complex to face the Gulls of Endicott College at 3:30 p.m.
