Gordon College Men's Soccer took the field today against the Montclair Red Hawks in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Both sides were contained throughout 90 minutes of play due to the high winds, but it was Montclair who took the edge after knocking in a penalty kick in the 51st minute. 

How It Happened

• In the first half, wind and weather wreaked havoc on both teams' offensive game plans with neither side putting anything on frame as well as limiting shot attempts to three for Gordon and two for Montclair. Gordon's most promising chance came in the 10th minute when Chase Gwynn ripped a shot but sailed high. 
• With the score still knotted at 0-0 going into the second half, Montclair snatched a penalty kick after a hand ball from Gordon was called in the box. Anthony Pelaez netted the penalty kick to go up 1-0 in the 51st minute.
• The Scots continued to battle throughout the second half and nearly tied it up thanks to a George Coogan IV header but Montclair's keeper was able to scoop it up to keep the Scots off the board. 
• Despite Gordon's aggressiveness down the stretch, Montclair was able to come away with the narrow victory to advance.

• The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Champions finish the 2021 season with an overall record of 12-6-2.
• The Scots graduate seniors Rachid Billoti, Luckson Dambo, Jacob Gaudreau, Chase Gwynn, Michael Hahn, Ryan Modzeleski, Roddy Ngolomingi, Jarvin Ramirez, Nathan Talesnick, and Brody Veleber.
