Scots Upset No. 1 Gulls To Advance To CCC Championship

Gordon College Men's Soccer traveled to cross-town rival Endicott College this evening for the Commonwealth Coast Conference Semifinal between the No. 4 and No. 1 seeds. The Fighting Scots pulled off the upset with a 3-2 victory over the Gulls to advance to the CCC Championship this Saturday.

How It Happened
  • In the 14th minute, Endicott's Joe Mepham put the home team on the board first after knocking in a pass from teammate Camden Rigney. Both sides traded shots throughout the remainder of the half, but Endicott held on for the narrow 1-0 edge at the break.
  • Just 20 ticks into the second half, Chase Gwynn nearly tied it up but the forward's shot hit off the post. However, 15 minutes later, Gwynn got his revenge as the graduate student buried a free kick in the upper 90 after a foul at the top of the box to even out the score at 1-1.
  • Three minutes later, Endicott regained the lead after Mepham found Austin Wickham for his second tally of the season.
  • Within a span of five seconds, Gordon rattled off three shots from within the 18. Ryan Modzeleski kicked off the shot parade with a bullet from the top of the box that was saved by the Gulls' keeper back to the feet of Gwynn who ripped off another shot that was deflected off the keeper towards Jarvin Ramirez who hustled to save the ball from the end line. The senior kicked the ball back to the middle of the net where Gwynn headed it in to lock the score up yet again, 2-2.
  • In the 83rd minute, Ramirez booted in a corner kick from the right side where Gwynn battled for the ball in front of the net, kicking it into the Gulls' keeper before the ball rebounded to Casey Torres who tapped the ball in with his right foot into the side netting to give Gordon its first lead of the game and eventual 3-2 WIN!
