How It Happened
- After a minute of back and forth action, the Fighting Scots secured the first basket of the game with a Rivera layup. The Gulls quickly fought back to tie it up at four-all however the Scots went on a six point run thanks to a mix of jumpers from Andreotti and Wynbeek to give Gordon a 10-4 edge. The Fighting Scots kept control for the remainder of the period, ending the first up 15-8.Â
- The Fighting Scots continued to put pressure on Endicott, keeping their lead until the Gulls finally broke through to go ahead 18-17 just over five minutes into the second period. However, Rivera made sure to regain Gordon's advantage fourteen seconds later as the rookie sank a jumper to retake the lead they would not relinquish going into halftime, 25-21.
- Although the Gulls came back from the half with tenacity, pouncing first, the Fighting Scots extended their lead to 33-25 thanks to a steal from Rivera which led to another two points from Wynbeek. Endicott continued to retaliate, keeping up with the Scots but it wasn't until the last minute of the period when the Gulls got a taste of being ahead when they gained just their second lead of the game, 38-37.
- Despite the Gulls persistent attacks, the Fighting Scots almost reclaimed their advantage in the final period when they tied up the ballgame 42-all. However, Endicott eventually reclaimed their lead thanks to a five point run from their leading scorers, Laugeni and Dempsey (47-42). Gordon attempted a comeback, however the Gulls' edge was too much to overcome as Endicott took the eventual victory, 58-51.Â
