How It Happened
- Although WNE got out to a hot start, gaining a 7-0 lead on the Scots early in the first, Gordon shrunk the deficit to one before ending the period thanks to a perfectly executed layup from Wynbeek (11-12).Â
- The Scots opened up back up with a bang when Andreotti landed a three-pointer to give the Scots their first lead of the game, 14-12. This powered the Fighting Scots to an eight point run (20-12) before the Golden Bears were able to get their first successful shot in almost halfway through the period.
- Gordon continued to take advantage of their lead, staying at least six points ahead of WNE. It wasn't until the last two minutes of the period when the Golden Bears started to comeback, eventually tying it up 26 all right after capitalizing on three foul shots with one tick left on the clock.
- Coming back from the half, the Fighting Scots got on a roll again taking the lead by 14 points while holding the Golden Bears to one successful free throw in the first nine minutes of the third period (41-27). With a minute to spare, WNE was able to get three more points in before ending the period, 41-30 in favor of the Scots.Â
- The Fighting Scots refused to settle for an 11 point lead, as Rivera immediately tacked another two points onto Gordon's advantage thanks to her hot shot. The Golden bears continued to fight back, however the Scots showed no mercy, taking the eventual victory 57-43 after a Rivera three to lay down the hammer.Â
