Box Score The Gordon College Men's Basketball team traveled into the city of Boston today to take on Suffolk University in a match up with 21 lead changes. Despite being down by ten at the half, the Fighting Scots rallied back to hand the Rams their second loss of the 2021 season.
Nate Hale led the way for Suffolk, with 24 points and seven rebounds while William Rowe controlled the boards with a game high 16 rebounds and ten points to secure a double double.
A solid team effort from the Scots however allowed for them to come out on top, with four players tallying double digit points, including
Garrett Sattazahn with 18,
Michael Makiej with 14,
Parker Omslaer with 13, and
Drew Thibeault with 12. Sattazahn and senior Joshua Crutchfield also dished out seven assists apiece.
How it Happened
- One minute into the game the Scots went down by five when Hale sunk a three-pointer, but Sattazahn answered quickly with a three of his own half a minute later to put Gordon on the board and initiate a 12-0 run.
- Halfway through the first, a basket in the paint from Caleb Scott tied the game up at 27-27.
- The Rams hit another three with 7:41 on the clock to take the lead, but a layup and a three pointer from Thibeault within 23 second of each other gave Gordon the lead once again.
- Sattazahn's third three of the night swished with a little under four minutes left, but those were the last points the Scots scored in the first half, as Suffolk went on an 11-point run to lead the game by ten at halftime.
- Gordon came out swinging in the second half with an offensive rebound and put back for Omslaer a mere two seconds into the half.
- Sparked by a jumper from Justin Yu, the Scots went on a 13-0 run to take the lead back with 14 minutes left in the game.
- Twelve minutes and six lead changes later, Crutchfield hit a three to give Gordon a two point edge late.
- A handful of clutch free throws from Makiej extended the lead to five so that when the Rams hit a three with two seconds left, it was not enough to take back the game and the Scots came out on top.

When they made their run at the end of the first half, we did a great job of staying poised and focused. Our defense the second half was the best it has been all season. I'm very proud of our guys. It was a great team win."
