Box Score Gordon College Tennis opened up Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play this afternoon against the Endicott Gulls in Beverly, Massachusetts. The Fighting Scots won the battle over the cross-town rivals, 6-3 to start off CCC play at 1-0.
Richard Ryzi and
Mark Noschese put the Scots on the board first in the No. 2 doubles spot with a 8-1 win. Gordon then recorded another win in the No. 3 slot as Endicott defaulted.
Already with a 2-0 lead after doubles, the Scots earned additional wins from Noschese and Ryzi in the No. 4 and No. 3 slots, respectively. Noschese made quick work of his opponent (6-0, 6-1) while Ryzi defeated his counterpart by a score of 6-1, 6-3. The Gulls again defaulted in the No. 5 and No. 6 singles spots to give the Scots the 6-3 overall win.
Next up for the Scots is a home matchup against the Wentworth Leopards at the Brigham Athletic Complex on Wednesday, March 31 at 4 p.m.
