How It Happened
- Gordon secured an eight-point lead by the end of the first quarter, but the Colonels cut the lead to three by halftime.
- The Scots started the second half strong with a steal from Vampatella that led to a jumper by freshman Caroline Sikkink.
- Just 20 seconds later, Anderson snatched a steal that led to another two points from Wynbeek.
- Vampatella sunk a pair of free throws at the end of the third to put the Scots up by eight once again.
- Cara Andreotti rattled in a layup with 36 seconds left on the clock to give Gordon their largest lead of the game (29), before Curry tacked on a freebie from the charity stripe to end the night with a score of Gordon 83-Curry 55.
Beyond The Box Score
- Gordon's 83 points tonight marks their highest scoring game of the 2021 season.
- Anderson's five three-pointers marks a season high for the Scots, which was previously two against Becker, also held by Anderson.
- Wynbeek now holds the season high for points and rebounds, in the game which she registered her third career double-double. Her 24 points is also a career-high for the sophomore.
- Said Head Coach Carter Shaw: "We really got off to a nice start in the first quarter with solid defensive play, and for the most part I thought we maintained our focus throughout the game. One of the outcomes of solid defense is efficiency on the boards and I think tonight's rebounding totals reflect that. I was also thrilled to see four players in double digits scoring tonight. This was the result of better ball movement and a more cohesive offensive attack. We moved the ball well and this was reflective of our assist totals. Madison Wynbeek's early scoring was instrumental in setting the tone on the offensive end of the floor and Serianna Anderson was lights out from behind the arc."
