Game Recap: Softball |

Scots Drop Two At The Nest

Traveling to Beverly, Massachusetts this afternoon, Gordon College Softball was overcome by their competitors at Endicott College (EC) for their first double header matchup of against the Gulls.

Game One
  • The Gulls quickly shut down the Fighting Scots in the top of the first with a strike out, ground out, and fly ball. Endicott used that fire to fuel their bats in the next half inning where they put two runs up generated by Raven Comtois's gap shot double to left center. The Gulls then capitalized on a few fielding errors by the Scots, however, Gordon was able to get out of the inning with only two runs of damage.
  • The Endicott Gulls continued to improve their lead in the second driven by another hard-hit double from Carly Marchitto to give EC a 3-0 lead.
  • The score was held at a standstill until the sixth when the Fighting Scots started to get hot. A lead off hard hit single from Lily Rivera started the Scots' groove which was soon followed up by another rocket down the left field line from classmate Kristen Brown. Rivera then took advantage of a Gull error, crossing the plate for the first time for the Scots.
  • However, the Scots were unable to close the gap in their last ups ultimately dropping the contest 3-1.
Game Two
  • The first three innings of the game was a pitcher's duel as neither team was able to cross the plate with only five hits between the Scots and the Gulls. However, the Gulls busted the game open with a solo homerun from Meghan Connor bringing the score to 1-0.
  • The score remained until the bottom of the sixth when the Gulls were able to string a few hits together expanding their lead to 4-0.
  • Despite an attempt to comeback in the seventh, the Gulls shut Gordon down defensively to secure the win in the nightcap.
Beyond The Box Score
  • The Fighting Scots will seek revenge tomorrow, Sunday, April 11 as they invite the Gulls to their home turf with the first pitch at 2 p.m.
