Hunt Sparks Scots' Split With Gulls

Gordon College Softball welcomed the Gulls of Endicott College this afternoon for day two of their Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) series. The Fighting Scots bested the Gulls in game one on a ninth-inning walk-off double (7-6) before falling the the visitors in game two (6-1).

Game One
  • The Gulls got off to a quick start, scoring a pair of runs in the top of the first to lead, 2-0.
  • In the bottom of the fourth, Arianna Ramsaran cut the deficit to one thanks to a solo shot to left. In their next at bats, the Scots' Mara Little drove in Emma Dubois who reached on an error to lead off the inning to tie the game at 2-all to cause Endicott to make a pitching change. However, the switch did not matter as Lily Rivera hit a sac fly to left to score teammate Emily Harms to go on top, 3-2.
  • A leadoff triple from Lauren Misiaszek resulted in another run for the Gulls in the top of the sixth to knot it up yet again. .
  • Both dugouts remained scoreless in the seventh to force extras. However, for the third time of the day, the Gulls and Scots were in a stalemate in the eighth as each was able to use the international tie breaker runner at second to plate one run each, extending the game into the ninth.
  • Adrianna Favreau tripled in the top of the ninth to score two runs for the Gulls and go on top, 6-4.
  • With two outs, down by two, two strikes on the batter, and a runner on still at second, it seemed as though the Gulls were going to come away with the victory, but the Fighting Scots still had some fight in them.
  • Harms was awarded first base due to catcher's interference, then Karissa Hatchell hit an infield single to the left side to make it bases loaded.
  • Gabby Hunt stepped up to the plate and belted a three-run RBI double to the left field fence for a Fighting Scot walk-off, 7-6.
Game Two
  • Endicott came out hungry in game two after losing game one in dramatic fashion, scoring one run in the first, another in the second, and two more in the third to take a comfortable 4-0 lead after three.
  • Neither side was able to string enough hits to tally another run for the next two innings until the Gulls came around to score two more times in the top of the sixth to widen the gap, 6-0.
  • With two on and two out, Laura Bieren launched a double to the left center gap to score Rivera. However, that was the only run that Gordon could plate in their last at bats, as Endicott took game two, 6-1.
