Gordon College Women's Lacrosse was bested by the visiting Seahawks from Salve Regina University this evening, 23-11.
Kaity Doherty spearheaded the offense for SRU with seven goals, while Meghan Ryder and Nicole Smith each added four goals in the win.Â
For the Scots'
Katelyn Dyer had a team-high five goals, while
Allison Mead and
Abigail Mansfield chipped in two a piece. Additionally,
Lena Larson dished out four assists while scooping up five ground balls.
How It Happened
- Salve came out strong, scoring a quick four goals in the first three and a half minutes of action.
- Paige Blake interrupted the Seahawks streak three minutes later, finding the back of the net for Gordon's first tally of the night.
- The visitors would add two more before Dyer ripped in her first goal of the night at the 17:58 mark.
- After four unanswered goals from Salve, Gordon went on a run of their own, scoring three times within three minutes to cut the deficit in half (10-5).
- The Seahawks closed out of the first half on a 5-1 run to lead 15-6 at the break.
- Lena Larson netted her first goal of the game less than five minutes into the second thanks to a Dyer feed making the score 17-7.
- The Scots continued to battle until the final whistle, with Dyer and Mansfield each recording two more goals each, but it wasn't enough as Salve took the  game 23-11.Â
Beyond The Box Score
- Senior Katelyn Dyer reached two milestones this evening. The senior netted her 100th career goal and also reached 50 draw controls on the season.
- The Scots travel to Bristol, R.I. on Wednesday, April 21 to face the Roger Williams University Hawks at 4 p.m.
