In the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Pod B Semifinal matchup, Gordon College Men's Tennis faced the Wentworth Institute Leopards at the Trent J. Scott '96 Tennis Courts on the campus of Curry College. The Fighting Scots fell to their hosts (WIT) by a score of 5-2. As with last night's women's postseason match, the CCC playoffs are only played to decision.
Gordon's No. 3 doubles partners of
Matt McEathron and
Alex Ryzi put the Fighting Scots on the board first with an 8-1 win. Curry got the better of the Scots in the top doubles position, 8-5, but Gordon took best two out of three as the blue and white won a tight match in No. 2 action as
Richard Ryzi and
Mark Noschese batted to a 7-6 (7-5) win over Curry's pairing.
Wentworth was laser focused in singles as the Leopards won four straight to take the overall come from behind 5-2 victory to advance.
The Fighting Scots cap off the 2021 season at 7-4 and will graduate
Will Jeffreys and
Richard Ryzi on May 15.
