The Gordon College Women's Tennis team took down the Salve Regina Seahawks, 7-2 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play this afternoon at the Brigham Athletic Complex. With the win the Fighting Scots even out their season record at 1-1.
Jordyn Maddex and
Annette Kim bested their opponents in No. 1 doubles, 8-1 to give Gordon their first score of the afternoon. The Seahawks balanced out the score as SRU's
Ellysa Tancrede and
Graysen Scherer bested Gordon's No. 3 duo of sisters Abbigail and Alyson Fournier in a tight 7-9 match. Securing the final tally in doubles competition were teammates
Madison West and
Kristin Kendall at the No. 2 slot who defeated their counterparts, 8-5.
Heading into singles with a 2-1 edge, SRU's No. 6 player evened the score at 2-2 after securing a 6-0, 6-0 win. However, that would be the last victory the visitors would get as the Scots won out to secure the eventual 7-2 win.
The Scots return to the courts on Saturday, September 25 as they travel to Springfield, Mass. to take on the Golden Bears of Western New England at 12 p.m.
