Scots Sweep Bears In Non-Conference Action

Box Score Hosting the Bridgewater State University Bears tonight on Kanas Court, Gordon College Volleyball showed no mercy with a 3-0 sweep over the visitors. With tonight's win, the Scots improve their overall record to 5-4.

How It Happened
  • The Fighting Scots jumped out to a 2-0 lead over the Bears and continued to maintain complete control throughout.  With the 13-5 lead, Gordon relinquished one point before rolling to a 10-0 run to go on top, 23-6. After Jordan Shaduk gave the Scots their 24th point, the blue and white took advantage of the Bears' attack error to take the first set by a score of 25-8.
  • Kate Howe knuckle balled a service ace to give Gordon their biggest lead of the set, 18-6. Gordon continued to roll, taking advantage of their counterparts' errors along with executing timely plays of their own to win the second, 25-10.
  • The third set was back and forth until the Scots began to pull away by scoring five straight points to widen the gap, 17-11. Bridgewater cut the lead to five but that was the closest they would get as the Scots secured the 25-15 set three win and overall 3-0 victory.

Beyond The Box Score
  • Freshman Annie Murphy was dominant at the net, recording a career-high six blocks on the night.
  • The Fighting Scots return to action on Kanas Court on Saturday, September 25 to host a tri-match against Nichols and Eastern Nazarene.
