Gordon College Volleyball hosted the Wentworth Leopards on Kanas Court this evening in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action. The Fighting Scots made quick of their opponents, defeating the Leopards, 3-0. 

How It Happened

• The Scots stormed out to a 4-1 advantage before the Leopards came crawling back, forcing a flurry of lead changes until the blue and white went on a 10-2 run to widen the gap to 19-12. Gordon continued to roll, putting their stamp on set one thanks to a filthy service ace from Kate Howe to take the first frame, 25-15.
• The second frame was neck and neck to start, with the Scots maintaining the upper hand. After Gordon took the 16-13, the Scots never looked back, rolling to a 21-14 advantage. Wentworth recorded a pair of kills late but it wasn't enough to make a comeback as the Scots went up 2-0 after taking the second set, 25-17.
• It was all Gordon in the third and final set, as the Scots erupted for 20 points before Wentworth hit double digits (20-8). After a dominant performance the Fighting Scots took set three, 25-11 to take the 3-0 sweep over the Leopards.

Beyond The Box Score

• Valerie Nilan has now recorded double digit kills for the third straight game.
• Gordon returns to action on Tuesday, October 5 as they travel to Newport, R.I. for a CCC matchup against the Salve Regina Seahawks.
