Joe Pedulla '21 Lands Strength and Conditioning Position With Kansas City Royals MiLB Organization

Recent Gordon College 2021 graduate and baseball standout Joe Pedulla has accepted a job as an Assistant MiLB (Minor League Baseball) Strength and Conditioning coach in the Kansas City Royals organization where he will be working under the Minor League Director of Performance. Pedulla will be tasked with coaching during spring training, while also working with players on rehab assignments during the regular season.

A kinesiology major, Pedulla first realized the impact he could have on athletes during his time as a physical therapy aide with Princeton Orthopedic Associates in 2019. From there, he worked as a strength and conditioning intern at Texas Christian University (TCU) under coach Zach Dechant in the summer of 2020 heading into his senior year. During his time at TCU, Pedulla worked primarily with the Horned Frogs' football team, where he learned from all of the coaches on the staff.

Pedulla integrated the knowledge he gained from his summer at TCU to elevate his already impressive presence on the rubber for his senior season. The right-hander was dominant on the mound earning First Team All-Conference honors after posting a 4-1 record with a 1.70 ERA. He also struck out 42 batters in 37.0 innings, while limiting opposing hitters to a .212 batting average. Leaving his stamp on the program, Pedulla set the program record for complete games pitched with 13.

Upon graduation, Pedulla continued to develop his strength and conditioning passion and interned with NJ FASSST last winter before working his way up to a head performance coach for the organization since June. FASSST is an Athletic Performance Training company that is Building the Foundation for Improved Sports Performance. Not forgetting his roots, he has stayed close to his alma matter, as he is currently the volunteer strength and conditioning coach for the Gordon Baseball team.

Proud of his former student-athlete, head coach Todd Alford had this to say about Pedulla's new position: "It's just so awesome to see guys from the Gordon program moving into professional careers in baseball. Joe was a great leader while he was here on the team, and I love the fact that he's continuing to lead by opening doors for future Gordon graduates."
