Gordon College Women's Basketball traveled into Boston tonight for a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) contest against the Suffolk University Rams where the Fighting Scots fell to their hosts, 76-44.
For the Scots,
Cara Andreotti had 15 points,
Ami Rivera added 11 points and seven rebounds, while
Caleigh Williams brought down five boards.
On the Rams' side,
Amanda DeAngelis had a game-high 16 points,
Gabriella DeComo chipped in 13 points, and
Emily Welling tacked on 10 points in the win.
How It Happened
- With the score just 11-8 in Suffolk's favor, the Rams scored 14 straight points in the final five minutes of the first quarter to go on top, 25-8.
- Continuing their scoring streak, Suffolk tallied the first eight points of the second frame before an Andreotti jumper brought the Scots to double digits with 5:12 left until the break. Closing out the final two minutes of the quarter, the blue and white outscored their hosts, 8-3 but still trailed 43-20 heading into the locker room.
- Teaming up on the offense for the Scots were A. Rivera and Andreotti who combined scored 11 of the Scots' 13 points in the third, but the Scots were unable to gain ground on the Rams (61-33).
- Suffolk only outscored Gordon by four points in the fourth but the Rams already had the game in hand, defeating the Scots by 32.
Beyond The Box Score
- After going 2-3 from the field, Kira Mate recorded five points marking a career-high for the freshman.
- The Scots travel to Newport, R.I. on Thursday, January 27 for a makeup game against the Seahawks of Salve Regina at 6 p.m.
