In celebration of their nine seniors, Gordon College Women's Soccer hosted the Western New England Golden Bears (WNE) for a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) bout this afternoon. The Fighting Scots battled for 90 minutes, but were unable to come back from an early WNE goal as they lost a close one, 0-1.

How It Happened

• Both teams came out firing, taking a flurry of shots, but it was WNE who connected first as Isabella Montalvo knocked one into the back of the net to put the Golden Bears on top, 1-0 (10:14).
• The Scots nearly tied it up towards the end of the frame but a diving save by WNE keeper Molly McLaughlin kept the home team off the board as the Golden Bears took a 1-0 edge at half.
• Gordon continued to press on in the second half but McLaughlin continued to act as a brick wall to help the Golden Bears escape with the narrow 1-0 win over the Scots at the Brigham Athletic Complex.

• Before the game, Gordon honored their nine senior student-athletes: Tori Paine, Sarah Sierzenga, Sabbie Kenney, Alexa Weindorf, Abbey Engle, McKenna Feller, Ginny Vienneau, Sofia Gish, and Calla Ashley.
• Keeper Tori Paine booked a season-high five saves.
• The Fighting Scots return to play on Tuesday, October 11 to host the University of New England Nor'easters at 4 p.m.
