On day two of the Mike Daly Memorial Tournament in Rochester, New York, Gordon College Men's Basketball put on an offensive showcase as the Fighting Scots took down Union by a score of 106-97Â in the consolation game of the Mike Daley Memorial Tournament, held at Nazareth College's Kidern Gymnasium.
For the Scots,
Michael Makiej had 35 points,
Garrett Sattazahn netted 25, while
Bryce Smith and
Justin Yu had 19 and 11 points, respectively.Â
Union's efforts were led by
Mike Manley who scored 25 points and
Aidan McGee who chipped in 19 points on the day.Â
How It Happened
- Four different Scots scored in the opening three and a half minutes to go on top, 14-6. Not satisfied with their comfortable lead, the Scots shot lights out, leading by as many as 21 midway through the frame (39-18). The Dutchmen began to chip away but the blue and white kept their opponents at bay, holding a 52-43 advantage at halftime.Â
- In the second, Union went on a 13-0 run, shrinking the deficit and making it a three-point game (65-62). However, the blue and white answered back to outscore the Dutchmen 12-4 to regain a double-digit lead )84-73) with 6:54 remaining in regulation. Gordon remained in the driver's seat down the stretch en route to a nine-point victory.Â

- Caleb Scott booked a career-high 14 rebounds.Â
