Gordon College Women's Basketball finished off the Gordon Classic tournament on Kanas Court this afternoon as they faced the St. Joseph's Monks of Maine where the Fighting Scots were defeated, 73-52 after a second half surge from the Monks.
The Scots were led by
Ami Rivera who booked 11 points, followed by freshman
Hannah Lomonaco who added another 10 to the Scots' tally along with grabbing five rebounds, meanwhile, newcomer
Sydney Noyes sunk eight on the afternoon.
Nina Howe guided the Monks to victory, scoring a game-high 13 points and seven assists, followed by teammate who was not far behind with 12 points.
How It Happened
- Both squads battled for control early on, going basket for basket before a three from A. Rivera gave the Scots the biggest lead of the game with 1:11 to go in the first (18-13) but the Monks matched A. Rivera's three to end the first quarter 18-16.
- In the second frame, the Fighting Scots quickly lengthened their advantage to six thanks to back to back layups from Madison Wynbeek (22-16). However, the Monks tied it up at 22 before going on an 11-point run to head into the second half, 39-28.
- Coming back from the break, the Monks held on to their double-digit lead and continued to tack on to their tally to enter the final quarter with a 20-point lead (62-42). The Fighting Scots attempted to close the gap in the remaining ten minutes, but it wasn't enough as the Monks took the eventual 73-52 win.

- Rookie Hannah Lomonaco booked a career-high five rebounds in 20 minutes of play.
- The Fighting Scots hit Kanas Court again on Wednesday, November 16 when they invite the Amherst College Mammoths for a non-conference battle, set to begin at 7 p.m.
