Gordon College Women's Basketball welcomed the Golden Bears from Western New England this evening for a Valentine's Day Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) contest on Kanas Court where the Fighting Scots secured the 81-71 victory over the visitors to improve to 10-12 overall and 8-8 in CCC play.Â

Ami Rivera booked a game-high 27 points,
Isabella Rivera chipped in 18 points,
Serianna Anderson had 14 points, while
Madison Wynbeek tacked on 12 points in the win.

How It Happened
- The Scots and Golden Bears seesawed back and forth for the opening four minutes of the first quarter before the Scots scored six straight points to begin to pull away (14-10). WNE came within one (17-16) with 2:11 on the clock before Anderson and A. Rivera hit a jumper and a three-pointer, respectively, to finish off the quarter and lead 21-16.
- After a high scoring first quarter, both sides cooled off in the second but the Scots continued to hold the edge, highlighted by a 6-0 run to end the frame capped off my a Delaney McDonnell layup to lead by 11 (35-24) at the break.
- Coming out of the locker room hot, Gordon rattled off another six straight points to eventually lead by as many as 18 with 3:05 left in the third before entering the final 10 minutes with a 15-point margin.
- I. Rivera found sister A. Rivera for a shot from downtown to kickstart the fourth quarter for the blue and white, increasing their lead again to 18. Not going away quietly, the Golden Bears cut their deficit to five points with just under two minutes remaining in regulation. However, the Fighting Scots went 10-11 from the charity stripe down the stretch to secure the 10-point victory. Â
