How It Happened
- The Fighting Scots started off strong as Lecci capitalized on a feed from LaPia exactly three minutes into the game to get on the board first, 1-0. However, the Colonels retaliated with six trait goals to take the 6-1 lead with 2:11 to go in the first. With 14 seconds left, Mansfield found the back of the net to head into the second frame, 2-6.Â
- Curry kept their streak hot as they added to their advantage early in the second with another Doherty goal. However, Gordon's Beling broke the Colonel's spree when she zipped one to the back of the net to cut the deficit to four (7-3). Both squads traded goals before the Scots took advantage of a man-up situation to book back to back goals from Mini and LaPia within a span of a minute to come within two, 8-6. But the home team was able to retake their four-point edge at the half (10-6).Â
- Coming back from the break, the Scots were able to hold Curry to 10 while scoring two of their own after a last minute goal from LaPia at the 27 second mark to head into the final quarter down by two (8-10). After 4:31 of scoreless action, the Colonels' Murray extended her team's lead after taking advantage of a free position shot before Doherty did the same to go up 12-8. With 2:32 remaining in regulation, Mini attempted to spark the Scots with her third goal of the game, but it wasn't enough as Gordon took the eventual 9-13 loss.Â
