Wentworth Takes Two From Scots In Friday Night Matchup

Gordon College Softball returned to Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play this afternoon as they traveled to Boston for a doubleheader matchup with the Wentworth Leopards. The Leopards' offense led the charge and swept the Fighting Scots, 10-1 and 11-3.

Game One
  • Wentworth scored in each of its four innings they went to bat, grabbing one in the first, four in the second, three in the third, and two in the fourth.
  • The Fighting Scots jumped on the board in the top of the fifth as Mara Little hit a sacrifice fly to score teammate Gabby Hunt, but they were unable to cut the deficit and took the nine run loss in five innings.
Game Two
  • Gordon took the lead in the top half of the first when Ami Rivera plated Emily Peterson with an RBI groundout, but the home team answered back quickly, scoring four runs in the home half of the inning to take the 4-1 lead.
  • After the Leopards tacked on another in the second, the Fighting Scots cut the deficit to 5-3 as Lily Rivera and Little each had RBI ground outs in the third and fourth innings, respectively.
  • However, the Leopards went on to score six runs in the bottom of the fifth to finish the nightcap with an eight-run win.
Beyond The Box Score
  • Emma DuBois recorded a double in each of today's games.
  • The Fighting Scots have a quick turn around as they travel to Newport, Rhode Island tomorrow, Saturday, April 9 for a conference matchup against the Salve Regina Seahawks at 12 and 2 p.m.
