Gordon College Women's Soccer hit the road to battle the Vikings of Salem State University this afternoon where the Fighting Scots found themselves down, 1-0 at halftime, but battled back in the second to earn the 2-1 victory over the Vikings.

How It Happened

• The Fighting Scots held the shot advantage early, but in the 37th minute of action, the Vikings used a corner kick to orchestrate a shot off the foot of Jasmin Moran who booted the ball in the upper right 90 to put Salem on top, 1-0. 
• Just under three minutes into the second half, Sarah Sierzenga ripped in a shot over the Salem keeper's finger tips to lock it up at 1-1.
• The Scots continued to fire, commanding the offensive end and in the 85th minute, Ava Forbes-Smith was able to give her squad the edge after knocking in a rebounded save just in front of the net (2-1). 

Beyond The Box Score

• Rookie keeper Emily Bengtson recorded her first collegiate start in net today and booked a career-high seven saves.
• The Fighting Scots return to the Brigham Athletic Complex this coming Saturday, October 1 to host Salve Regina at 1 p.m. during Homecoming weekend.
