Hosting the Montclair State Red Hawks today at the Brigham Athletic Complex, Gordon College Women's Soccer rallied late in the second but were unable close the gap, falling to the visitors, 2-1. 

How It Happened

• From the opening whistle, Montclair brought the pressure onto the Fighting Scots' steady defense and after a foul in the box, Aileen Cahill successfully executed a penalty kick in the upper left corner to give the visitors a narrow 1-0 lead at the 8:46 mark.
• The Scots nearly knotted it up four minutes later as Sarah Sierzenga booted in a corner kick, finding the head of red hot Sofia Gish who headed it just right of the netting. Neither side was able to find the add another to the board, leaving the score at 1-0 in favor of Montclair at the break.
• In the 79th minute, Montclair's Emmi DeNovellis snuck one past Gordon keeper Tori Paine to increase their lead to 2-0. However, two minutes later, Sierzenga again found the head of Gish off a corner and Gish sent it in past the Montclair goalie to cut the deficit in half but it wasn't enough as the Red Hawks held on for the slim 2-1 win over the Scots.

• The Fighting Scots return to the Brigham Athletic Complex on Tuesday, September 6 as they host the New England College Pilgrims at 7 p.m.
• Sarah Sierzenga collected her second assist in as many games while Sofia Gish recorded her fourth goal of the very young season.
