How It Happened
- Curry's Kaitlynn Smith got her squad going early on as the senior opened up the match up with a three less than 30 seconds into action but it wasn't long before Naomi Nicholson retaliated with a three of her own to catalyze a Scot rally, eventually grabbing a six-point lead (11-5) before ending the first period, 17-9 topped off by a layup from Sydney Noyes with 20 ticks left.Â
- The Colonels started the second frame similar to the first with one from behind the arc, but the Fighting Scots soon regained their massive edge after holding Curry to just seven points in the entire second period while tacking on to their lead to head into the second half with a controlling 13-point advantage (29-16).
- In the third period, the Scots immediately expanded their lead, coming out strong with an eight-point run to grab their biggest edge of the night bringing the score to 37-16 with 7:59 remaining. While Curry attempted to chip away, the Fighting Scots didn't let up, holding tight to their twenty-point lead before entering the final frame, 49-28.Â
- In the last 10 minutes of play, a mix of jumpers from A. Rivera and Anderson gave Gordon a 24-point cushion before Nicholson hit one from downtown to bring down the hammer (58-33) with 6:41 on the clock. In the remaining minutes, the Colonels were able to shrink their deficit however the Scots stayed strong to seal the eventual 66-56 Conference win.Â
