How It Happened
- Neither side was able to get in their offensive rhythm in the first as both the Scots and Leopards traded baskets as Wentworth carried a 9-6 lead after the first ten minutes of action.
- Wentworth opened up the second frame with a shot from downtown to double up the blue and white, 12-6 before Gordon went on a 7-0 run to go on top, 13-12. Both squads ended up adding five and six points, respectively to their tallies, as the scoreboard read 18-18 at the break.
- Coming back from the half, the Leopards broke the deadlock with one from behind the arc for the first basket of the new frame at the 8:53 mark, however, the Scots quickly knotted up the score at 21 before A. Rivera rebounded her own free throw to catalyze a Gordon rally where the Fighting Scots went up 31-21 topped off by a Wynbeek layup. The Scots fought hard to guard their sizable lead, heading into the last quarter, 35-26.
- In the final 10, Wentworth attempted to shave the deficit, eventually coming within two points before Naomi Nicholson sunk one from downtown to silence the Leopards, bringing the score to 51-46 with 30 seconds remaining. With one tick on the clock, A. Rivera stayed hot from the charity stripe to regain the double-digit lead for her squad before a last second basket from the Leopards added two to their tally before the Scots took the ultimate 57-48 win.
