Gordon College Women's Basketball hit the road for the first time on the young season, as they traveled to Amherst to square off against the Mammoths of Amherst College. The Mammoths were able to handle the Fighting Scots for their season-opener as they defeated the blue and white by a score of 73-47.

Isabella Rivera led the Scots with 13 points, Ami Rivera added 12, while Naomi Nicholson tacked on seven points.

For Amherst, Kori Barach had a game-high 18 points, followed by Sylvia Liddle and Reeya Patel who each contributed 14 and 10 points, respectively. 

How It Happened

• Amherst quickly found their rhythm to kick off their season, going on top, 25-6 after the first quarter. 
• Gordon bounced back strong in the second, outscoring their hosts, 15-14 to close the gap to 39-21 at halftime.
• In the second half, the home team regained control coming out of the break before outscoring the blue and white by just three points in the final frame.

• Rookie Sophie Peters recorded her first points as a Fighting Scot.
• Junior Brynn Barnhard matched her career-high with seven rebounds.
• The Scots return to Kanas Court for their next contest as they host the Gordon College Classic this Friday and Saturday. On Friday, November 17 the blue and white take on Elms at 7:30 p.m. before battling Dean on Saturday, November 18 at 3 p.m.
