Scots Cage Bulldogs In 80-49 Win

On day two of the Gordon Classic, Gordon College Women's Basketball squared off against the Dean College Bulldogs on Kanas Court. An 18 point differential in the third from the Fighting Scots sparked a dominant 80-49 victory over the Bulldogs.

The Fighting Scots had five in double-digits with Isabella Rivera leading the way with 17 points, Naomi Nicholson with 14 points and six assists, Ami Rivera added 11 points and seven assists, while Sydney Noyes and Sophie Peters had 10 points each.

Dean's efforts were led by Cat Thomas who had 15 points and Tori Viau who chipped in 12 points.

How It Happened
  • The visitors struck first, but Gordon quickly came back with nine straight to lead 9-4 midway through the first. A Peters' three widened the gap to 17-8 before a Dean bucket made it 17-10 after one.
  • Brynn Barnhard nailed a three to open up the second, but the Bulldogs drained one of their own to keep it a seven-point game. Gordon used three straight three-balls from downtown to keep the visitors at bay and hold a 33-28 advantage at halftime.
  • Gordon went on a thrilling 18-0 run in the third to lead by 23 heading into the final quarter (60-37).
  • A fast break layup from Peters gave the blue and white a 31-point lead with just under two minutes to go in regulation. The Scots closed out the game with the final five points, highlighted with two freebies from the free throw line from rookie Cassidy Dillon.
