Hosting for the second straight time, Gordon College Men's Basketball welcomed the Salem State University Vikings for a battle of the North Shore on Kanas Court. After two hard fought halves, the Fighting Scots secured their first win of the year, 81-77.
For the Fighting Scots,
Isaac Jarvis led the way with 22 points and 11 rebounds,
Bryce Smith had 20 points, while
Treyton Tebbs and
Justin Yu chipped in 14 and 11 points, respectively.
Salem's
Jaden Castillo registered 23 points, while
Michael Makiej chipped in 13.
How It Happened
- The Fighting Scots held a commanding 18-8 advantage to open up the first six minutes of the game. However, the Vikings slowly climbed back into the race, to eliminate the deficit and take a narrow 36-35 edge at halftime.
- To open up the second half, the Scots retook the lead for the first five minutes before the Vikings returned the favor to hold the upper hand for the next five. A Smith three-pointer at the 9:56 mark swung momentum into Gordon's favor as they took an 11-0 run. Gordon didn't take their foot off the gas as they continued to battle down the stretch en route to the 81-77 victory.
