The No. 4-seeded Gordon College Volleyball hosted the No. 5-ranked Suffolk University Rams this evening in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Quarterfinals where the Rams made a comeback to defeat the Fighting Scots, 3-2.

How It Happened

• Suffolk held the slim lead early in the opening set, but the blue and white battled back to lock it up five more times before the visitors looked as though they were going to run away with the first set. However, the Fighting Scots regrouped to take the first by a score of 25-23 in thrilling fashion.
• The Scots flew out of the gates to kick off the second frame, but the Rams roared back, taking the 13-12 edge before widening the gap to 21-18 forcing Gordon to call a timeout. The home team was able to reconvene and battle point for point to go up 2-0 after another electrifying victory (29-27).
• In the third, the Scots and Rams went head-to-head once again, until Suffolk went on an 9-1 run (16-9). Gordon came back to tie it up at 22-all, but the Rams were able to hang on for the 26-24 win to force a fourth set.
• The Rams slid out in the fourth, 7-6 and never looked back en route to the 25-18 set three win (2-2).
• Gordon took the early lead in the fifth, but Suffolk came back and secured the 15-12 victory to top the blue and white, 3-2.

Beyond The Box Score

• The Scots graduate seniors Kate Howe, Nikki Batson, and Alexa Quinones.
• Kate Howe recorded a season-high 50 assists and 17 digs.
• Annie Murphy slammed down a career-high 28 kills which is just four behind the all-time record.
• Nikki Batson registered 20+ digs for the second time in the past four games.
