Taking the court for the first time in the 2023-24 season, Gordon College Women's Basketball welcomed the Bears of the United States Coast Guard Academy (USCGA) to the Bennet Center this evening where the Fighting Scots battled for four quarters but the visitors were able to top the blue and white, 71-62.
Gordon's efforts were led by

Isabella Rivera who chipped in 13 points and seven boards, while
Sydney Noyes brought down 12 rebounds while tacking on seven points.
For the visitors,
Kira Wood had a game-high 20 points, while
Glory Blethen,

How It Happened
- The Bears drained their first of six three-pointers 10 seconds after the opening tip go on top, 26-11 after the first quarter.Â
- A. Rivera ignited the Scots' scoring in the second with a three of her own before the blue and white closed out the frame on a 12-3 run to make it a 39-30 ball game at halftime.
- Coast Guard regained a double-digit lead in the early minutes of the third, but the Scots continued to chip away, once again outscoring the Bears overall in the quarter spearheaded by an 8-2 scoring spree carrying them into the fourth.
- In the final 10 minutes of regulation, the Bears found their rhythm from behind the arc to reclaim a comfortable lead. However, not backing down, Gordon finished strong down the stretch, thanks to aggressive play from I. Rivera, a jumper from downtown off the finger tips of Olivia Brown, followed by three straight free throws from the charity stripe from Naomi Nicholson to shrink the deficit to a final score of 71-62.
