In their return from Christmas Break, Gordon College Women's Basketball hosted the Wheaton College Lyons to Kanas Court where the Lyons were able to come away with the 58-49 win over the Fighting Scots.
The Scots'
Ami Rivera netted 11 points,
Naomi Nicholson added eight points and seven assists, while
Sydney Noyes had eight points and nine boards.
For the visitors,
Kiki Walters had 18 points while
Abby Fernandes chipped in 12 points.
How It Happened
- In the opening quarter the Lyons and Scots traded shots in an evenly matched quarter before the Lyons hit a jumper to break the stalemate and head into the second on top, 14-12.
- With just under three minutes to go until the break, Olivia Brown hit one from downtown to give Gordon its first lead of the frame. From there, A. Rivera scored the final four points to put Gordon up, 31-28 at the break.
- The blue and white grabbed a five-point advantage midway through the third quarter and eventually held a one-point edge going into the final frame.
- Wheaton netted the first bucket of the fourth, but the Scots answered back quickly to regain the lead. However, the Lyons buckled down in the final minutes for the non-conference win over the Scots.

- Naomi Nicholson matched her career-high of four steals.
- Rookie Sophie Peters recorded her first start as a Fighting Scot.
- The Fighting Scots return to action on Tuesday, January 2 as they take on conference and crosstown rival Endicott College at home at 5:30 p.m.
