Anderson's Career Night Leads Scots Past Colonels

After an undefeated week in Conference action last week, Gordon College Women's Basketball continued their hot streak tonight as they invited the Curry College Colonels for a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) bout where the Fighting Scots skated past their guests, 87-58 to secure their ninth CCC win of the season.

Serianna Anderson led the Scots to victory tonight with 26 points and 10 rebounds, Madison Wynbeek chipped in 16 points and 12 boards, while Isabella Rivera and Ami Rivera booked 13 and 12 points, respectively. Additionally, Hannah Lomonaco had 10 points and eight rebounds while Sydney Noyes recorded seven rebounds with five points.

For the Colonels, Kathryn Dunn had 21 points, while Lauren Dunn added 16 points.

How It Happened
  • With the score at 5-4 in favor of the visitors, Anderson sparked a Fighting Scot 11-0 run after draining one from three-point land to widen the gap to 15-5 midway through the first. Anderson once again hit another from behind the arc to give her squad their biggest advantage of the high scoring frame (24-11) with still three minutes to go in the quarter. Gordon eventually doubled up their counterparts, 28-14 heading into the second.
  • Continuing to fire from all cylinders in the second, the Scots put 20 more points on the scoreboard to make it an 18-point game at the break (48-30).
  • In the third quarter, both sides traded points, but the Scots remained in control going on top by 20+ points seven times in the frame to take a 68-49 lead into the final 10 minutes of regulation.
  • The Fighting Scots continued to widen the gap in large part from a 15-0 outburst spanned over three minutes, bringing the score to 83-51 (3:28), before coming away with the 87-58 victory over the Colonels.
Beyond The Box Score
  • Serianna Anderson booked her second straight double-double as well as recording a career-high 26 points.
  • This marks the second straight game that five Scots have scored in double-digits.
  • GCWB has now won seven games in a row.
  • The Fighting Scots will seek revenge on Saturday, February 4 when they travel to Bristol, Rhode Island to battle the current No. 1 Hawks of Roger Williams at 1 p.m.
