How It Happened
- Wynbeek got the Fighting Scots going with a layup to take the initial lead but it didn't last long as Suffolk tied it up before the teams battled back and forth for the advantage until the Rams were able to take the first, double-basket edge of the game, 16-12 with 39 ticks remaining.
- Suffolk extended their lead to seven, opening up the second quarter with a three-pointer after two minutes and 15 seconds of scoreless action (19-12). While the Rams were able to hang on to their lead, the Fighting Scots chipped away to close the gap, eventually heading into the half down by one basket (26-28) thanks to a three from Hannah Lomonaco in the final minute.
- Isabella Rivera quickly tied up the game at 28 after taking advantage of the charity stripe, however, Suffolk was determined to keep their edge, going on an eight-point run including two from behind the arc to bring the score to 36-28. Just under the seven minute mark, Ami Rivera sunk one from three-point land before Naomi Nicholson made it a one-basket game with a three of her own (34-36). Before heading into the final 10, a Lomonaco jumper brought the Scots within one (44-45).
- The Rams stayed in the lead until the clock struck 4:28 when Lomonaco added two to her stat sheet thanks to a layup in the paint, knotting it up at 51. The squads ping-ponged possession once again in the remaining minutes until it came down to Wynbeek at the free-throw line in the last 10 ticks of the game where she successfully sunk the pair to seal the 58-55 Conference win.
