Gordon College Women's Basketball continued their win streak on the road tonight as they traveled in to Boston to face the Wentworth Leopards for a Conference bout where the Fighting Scots dominated the court to best their hosts, 55-37.
Madison Wynbeek continued to shine for the Scots, earning a game-high 14 points as well as 12 rebounds, while classmate
Serianna Anderson chipped in eight points towards the valiant win.
For Wentworth,
Maddy Foster led her squad with 16 points while grabbing eight rebounds, followed by
Abriana Busbey who earned nine points in tonight's match-up.
How It Happened
- The Fighting Scots jumped out to a double-digit lead (12-2) in the first five minutes of action before tacking on five more points thanks to a three from Naomi Nicholson followed by a Sydney Noyes layup to end the first quarter with a 12-point lead (19-7)
- In the next frame, the Leopards chipped away to cut their deficit to single-digits (nine) at the 7:58 mark but back to back threes from Brynn Barnhard and Ami Rivera regained the more comfortable 15-point lead for the Scots (27-12). The teams went back and forth before heading into the break, 29-16.
- Isabella Rivera got the Scots rolling in the second half, catalyzing a Gordon rally, outscoring Wentworth, 10-3 to enter the final quarter with their biggest lead of the game (41-19).
- The Scots continued to stay strong both offensively and defensively as Nicholson hit the first basket from behind the arc to start off the fourth with a 25-point advantage. Wentworth attempted to close the gap, but the Fighting Scots were unstoppable, taking the eventual 55-37 Conference victory.
